One of the quickest and easiest 1940s recipes I have ever made. Taken from the Better Homes and Gardens Magazine January 1941, this savory side dish is basically a spruced up can of beans. And very tasty they were too... with no changes to the recipe..and of course I will be making it again
1 16- to 18-ounce can pork and beans
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup catsup
2 strips bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces
- Combine ingredients.
- Bake in greased casserole in moderate oven (350°) 20 minutes.
- Uncover and continue baking 20 minutes.
