The Avocado Tree

Happy Friday Lovelies
Photo: 1941
Shopping today was mainly fresh fruit and vegetables.. We have an amazing market nearby that sells great quality produce for very reasonable prices. Although I still have some canned fruits and vegetables in the pantry.. its a great stop gap between fresh items I  have run out of in storage.. while I wait to harvest again at home.

So its the time of year I start planning my little 'Victory Garden". I already have my seed potatoes... and we still have bell peppers and serrano peppers growing from last season.
We have a blackberry and a blueberry bush.. but what we've never had is a proper fruit tree. So when our friend Primo turned up with an avocado tree he had dug up from his garden...we couldnt say no.
After planting.. I must say its looking rather sorry for itself... but with a bit of love and attention.. hopefully it will come out of its shock and start flourishing,
It probably wont bear fruit for a couple of years.. but for right now... I will be happy if it just survives
Codfish Casserole
The Modern Family Cookbook by Meta Givens, 1942.

For dinner.. we had our favourite Codfish Casserole... so tasty.. and quick qnd easy to make

Finally we settled down to watch "Adam Had Four Sons" 1941
