Monday Again...

 Happy Monday Lovelies
Its a beautiful day here at our little blue house. The morning is bright and clear.. with slight breeze and a chill in the air.. In fact a perfect day for drying the the washing on the line. My sheets are going to smell gorgeous...

Monday is laundry day... so its also change the beds day. So while the laundry was blowing on the line.. it was the perfect time to give the bedrooms a good clean. There's nothing better on a Monday night than slipping between clean, sweet smelling sheets... in shining, clutter free room
I like to use 1940s cleaning products that are still available today... and Spic and Span is one of them...
This advert from 1947 featuring a BIG CASH CONTEST! “Win $100 a month every month of your life!” (works out to around $1400 a month today).

I wonder who the lucky winner was.....
Jam Squares
The cake tin was empty so I made some Jam Squares from the July 1943, Toronto Star. In the Marie Holmes Cooking Chat column, she posts a recipe for these small cakes and says this is an energy saving recipe that complies with rationing and other restrictions.

I have made this recipe before and it is easy ...though the batter, which is quite thick, should be spread thinly or you may not have enough. This time I swapped out the Strawberry Jam for Plum... and they are quite delicious especially with a nice cup of tea
I've tried something new for dinner tonight...
I wasnt sure about the recipe so I had fingers... and toes crossed that MrD would enjoy it...
and he said it made a nice change so alls good..
and recipe will be written out for tomorrow
So I'm ending the day listening to the radio and doing a bit of darning...

or I may just nod off...

What are the odds?
