Celery and Peanut Butter Sandwiches

Oh I'm so annoyed!!
When I went out to the Victory Garden this morning.. I found the pea and bean bed had been totally decimated!!. We have a gopher invasion! I know that our neighbour has had a terrible problem with them.. and it seems they have now moved on to our garden. MrD has caught a couple in his lawn... but I guess grass isn't juicy enough for them..
The only saving grace is ththe other bed is untouched..
The japapenos are flourishing..
and the second planting of snap peas are coming into their own

Im guessing its too late to replant...
so that part of the Victory Garden can be put to bed for the winter..
while we deal with the gopher problem

So disappointing!
I was so annoyed.. I rage cleaned the bathroom... It hasn't looked this sparkly for a long time!
So for lunch I had the penultimate sandwich from the list in the Better Homes and Gardens magazine, July 1942. Celery and Peanut Butter. What's not to like? I often have a stick of celery that's been dipped in a jar of peanut butter. Again.. Im not sure about the added mayonnaise.. I think its used as a thinner as well as for flavour..and I must admit I halved the amount.
Not a bad sandwich..  and I had it with the remainder of yesterdays sandwich filler.. which I mentioned was just like a crunchy coleslaw.

1/3 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Original Magazine Cutting

  •  Combine all ingredients and blend well.
